Another Thursday has rolled around,
leaving me when thoughts a plenty,
Many about the weather,
It shows me its displeasure,
donating hail and rain this week,
with a side of sound and fury.
My little boy thinks it rains at night
and is sunny for park during the day,
and with the way things have gone this week,
I don’t want to argue with his logic.
It’s the frequent gray
meeting my eyes when I leave work,
after spending hours inside a windowless room,
doing paperwork that never ends,
that has a way of making me ready for bed
before I’ve eaten supper.
Even thoughts of a long weekend
seem far away and abstract.
What if the weather is nice?
It could happen, there’s still time.
Maybe things will work out once,
as though the summer
was taking place in Pleasantville
and the days were always sunny and perfectly warm,
but not too warm.
My new phone app for weather makes me smile
at least,
bringing the spicy side to the day,
rain or shine.
Thank you, WTForecast.
You’ve made my stormy Thursday
a little brighter
