What a day!
Took the kids for haircuts and they looked so sharp after. Watched as they ran around and played at the park, then fed and watered them, as by then it was time for lunch.
We had a lovely soup and sandwiches, then my mother and I went for a drive. We stopped at all our favorite spots- an art store for her, and chapters for me.
I could spend days in that store, in between the gifts and the books. With the addition of the Starbucks, chapters is my mother ship. For my birthday, my mom said I could pick something out for my birthday. I had an awful time choosing though, as I simultaneously wanted everything but needed nothing.
We had just enough time to get a drink and drive to supper. We were supposed to meet my husband, Dad and the kids at Boston Pizza for supper, because apparently they had face painters.
I figured that was as good a place to go as any and thought nothing of it.
Until I entered and everyone attacked me with balloons and a hat and beads.
Apparently, my sneaky husband had arranged a surprise 40th with the aid of my family and friends.
I was totally surprised and very touched.
Talk about a skewed impression of what my supper was going to be! In the end, it turned into a huge affair with pizza and cake and face painters.
The kids had a blast and fought over the balloons, the adults ate too much (well, I did, anyway)
Conversation was plentiful and the kids were loud, and I felt like the luckiest woman in the world.
If this is a preview to what forty looks like, I’m looking forward to it!
