Time flees on wings
of zeros and ones
Ripped from my mind
one piece at a time
Lights flashing
incessant noise
Short circuits my brain
Anxiety passes,
Replaced by numbness,
Surreal and blurry
Slave to the tube,
the phone,
the click
Dopamine hits
Trickles away,
Leaves emptiness behind
Suddenly I remember
The sun
The grass
The smell of dirt after the rain
I click again,
my screen goes dark,
I re-emerge into the light
