Good Friday

Today is the anniversary

Of a time so long ago

A man betrayed by destiny,

By a friend and not a foe

For us he died so bravely,

Never shied away

On a cross he was laid

For this, his final day

When he was interred,

Tucked in with tears and grief

They mourned his loss so deeply,

With the pain of loss and disbelief

But while he died that day,

witnessed by the world

He rose again to show us

God promise was unfurled

So remember while eating candy,

Or a chocolate bunny egg

That Good Friday is a promise,

For which no one has to beg
