After a busy month,
and a busy and productive fall,
At last Christmas has come
For us, one and all
It waits not for the time
To let it in
Nor for free time
to finally begin
It comes with a whisper,
A brush of air
The bright excitement of children,
The festive clothing we wear
It’s a time of happiness,
But also a time of grief
Although Christmas will come,
The years are a thief
Every newborn child,
Each septuagenarian
Will remember Christmas uniquely,
Depending on the decade they’re in
Tonight I’ve tucked in my littles
With kisses and love
And said a prayer for the ones I’ve lost,
Who’ll celebrate Christmas above
For Christmas on earth
May be but once a year
But our love and memories
Can bring us ongoing cheer
So merry Christmas again
I hope this one is blessed
And if I remember it’s true meaning
This one shall be our best
